Prevents Damage When Installing Barrel On Surgeon Or Remington 700 Action
Easy-to-use alternative to old-fashioned T-handle action wrenches is specifically designed to prevent damage to receiver when installing and removing barrels. Lets you torque a Remington 700 or Surgeon Rifles action as close as possible to the barrel threads to eliminate unwanted twisting or bowing of the action that can result in distorted bolt raceways and other expensive damage. Inserts in the ejection port; the two “ears” fit in the raceways at the front ring. Insert a ½" drive ratchet handle or torque wrench and tighten/loosen the action to the barrel. Works on any length action.
SPECS: Steel, black oxide finish. Fits Remington 700 and Surgeon Rifles receivers. Do not exceed 100 foot pounds torque.

consistancy and accuracy are key in all gunsmithing with this wrench you can achive more acurate results. This wrench is much tougher than it looks used it to remove a action that had been locktighted to the barrel applied apx 200 ftlbs of tourqe to remove the action so far both the wrench and action apear to have survivied just fine.
A must have(07.09.2010)
Engineered to perfection. This product made short work of a professional barrel installation. No fear of damaging a very expensive receiver .
small but strong(11.04.2012)
made for right handed rifles only,do not try to make work in a lefty, will ruin the receiver!
Excellent tool(02.06.2012)
This is a well engineered tool, it was strong enough to remove and install my new barrel with ease, without a giant clamp marring the outside of my receiver. The only problem with it is that it changes the amount of torque needed to reach a certian ft/lb. It would be nice if Surgeon would provide information on proper torque readings. well worth the $$.
Don't buy ONE, Buy TWO of them.....(29.03.2013)
I love the way it works for my RH M700 applications. I removed some pretty stubborn factory barrels. It BROKE after 6x removals. I emailed the Surgeon folks in Prague, OK and they reminded me that this wrench was NOT for barrel removal but just intalling and removing custom (not factory barrel jobs) barrel arrangements. They were impressed when I reported that I got SIX removals accomplished; they sent me another one for FREE. What gr8 service is that, eh? So now I bought a very serious, "Through the receiver" Action wrench for serious barrel removals, and this Surgeon tool for the installations and subsequent removals or swaps. Life does not get better. Still using it but my buddy took mine and left me several bzzr in exchange. Now I need another one. I loved the Surgeon factory so much, I bought a $1200 Surgeon 591 action just to honor their work ethic. Now I'm a 'fanboy' ha ha ha ha. Peace be to journey.
Good for right hand rifles DOES NOT WORK(10.09.2013)
Was dissapointed it does not work on left hand models. I have been working on a lot of LEFT hand sniper rifles and this product does-not work on them :( so be ware It doese work well for righties
Great product(29.03.2017)
We have several of these in our shop. Our custom action is, like many, very similar to the Rem 700 and this wrench fits perfectly. It is quick, it works perfectly and it does not mar the action. The 1/2" drive hole allows us to utilize a torque wrench for accurate seating of the action to the barrel. It is one of those "perfect" tools that no shop should be without.
Exquisite(21.11.2017)
Small, lightweight, innovative and precision forged, you can take off and install any right hand 700 barrel with ease using a big torque wrench. I routinely use it to remove and install barrels in conjunction with a Viper Barrel Vice. You can probably break if you try, but if a 180 ft-lbs won't loosen it, just use a heat gun to expand the action and soften up and boil out the old never-seize. Hard to believe, but no more heavy, clunky, boat anchor, stone age tools to do the simple job of tightening and loosening a rifle barrel. Five stars is not enough.
