MAGPUL SGA BUTTSTOCK AMBIDEXTROUS FOR 12GA REMINGTON 870 BLACK

Excellent fit, easy to install. Solid black gun leaves a black hole in night operations. Mix of colors breaks up solid pattern. Adjustable pull length a definite accessory to adjust when wearing different clothing/gear. Perfect sight alignment when using just front sight bead with the option (separate purchase) to adjust when using other sighting systems.

I had been waiting for this ever since I installed one on my 870 as soon as they were introduced. I was not disappointed. Fit and finish were perfect on my 590A1. Simple straight forward install. Adjustable length of pull. I do not believe you will be disappointed!

Other than lack of folding/collapsing capability, this stock is almost perfect. My assessment is that Magpul put SIGNIFICANT thought into designing every aspect of this stock, something other companies could learn from.

The length of pull is adjustable with the addition of stock spacers, but I find the default short length of pull (12.5") to be about perfect for my build (5'7", 195lbs), without body armor/LBV. I think they should have designed the minimum length of pull at 12", which would have been even better for my build with body armor/LBV.

The default cheek height is perfect for bead sights. If you use higher profile sights, you can easily purchase and install a cheekpiece of greater height.

The rubber recoil pad is EXTREMELY soft, and greatly helps in reducing felt recoil.

The build quality seems very high. It doesn't seem to be made of the same cheap plastics used by less expensive stocks.

You will love this stock equally whether you are right or left handed, for it is completely ambidextrous in sling-mounting options. You can use the fixed loops, QD points, or (not included) install a Magpul snaplink-type sling mount.

The grip section is extremely comfortable for my small-to-average hands. It's well-rounded and not bulky (unlike the Mesa Tactical Urbino stock I tried out on my friend's M4 shotgun, which actually had uncomfortably squarish edges).

The stock is extremely easy install and remove - one does not even need to remove the buttpad to access the stock bolt.

I like the Flat Dark Earth color, it actually goes very well with the black receiver and barrel.

So yes, it doesn't fold or collapse. But you know what? It *also* doesn't have any wobble when shouldered, which is something I've encountered with nearly every 870 folding/collapsible stock I've ever used (Butler Creek's steel side folder was particularly bad in this regard).

I think the stock is well worth the money, and if if you don't have a *serious* need for a collapsible or folding stock on your Remington 870 (and let's be honest, most of us proably don't), then the Magpul SGA stock is possibly the best option for you.

LE usage: got my 590a1 last year because I prefer Mossberg controls over Remington- just my preference. I had upgraded the forend to a Innova integrated 150 lumen light which added a little weight to the front. The stock was a little light & didn't balance out. I was waiting with anticipation for this Magpul SGA to become available for my 590. It bolted up solid & added a good weight to the back which balanced this shotgun perfectly. The lines meld nice between the stock & receiver with a good flush fit. The grip is sticky good & with two spacers ( adjustable length of pull ) mounts up perfectly.

Added this to a 870 Police Magnum and was instantly impressed with the first shouldering. Grip angle is really comfortable and natural and the check weld will instantly put you on the sight. LOP is extremly easy to adjust. Assembly instructions are included but almost not needed. What is really great is the butt pad, absorbs recoil like a sponge. 3" Magnum slugs are fun to shoot again.

i sold my mesa leo adapter and tried one of these. I am short 5'9" and with out the spacers it is the perfect length of pull. It's ugly as hell but one of the most natural feeling stocks I have ever used. I have no regrets trading off my mesa tactical for this. I would do it again. I am not a magpul fanboy.

I picked this up for work as I was tired of my Knoxx Spec-Ops stock punching me in the face every time I shot. My only gripe so far is I had a GG&G single point sling mount that doesn't work with this BUT it would work just fine if Magpul would have included a longer stock bolt. Instead I have to buy their sling mount. But as of this review, it's not released yet?!? The forearm is fantastic and WAY better than the stock one. I also like the adjustable length of pull with the inserts on the stock. The ergonomics of the stock are great. It definitely looks weird, but everyone who owns anything Magpul knows there is a definite method to their madness.

Form, fit and function are nearly perfect. Easy and solid install on a 870 Magnum Express. The LOP adjustment allows you to play with the fit until it is spot on for you with or without body armor. Provision for sling swivel stud on either side of buttstock or use the footman bars. Feels good on the shoulder and handles well. Comb height is perfect for a bead and usable with ghost ring, I may try the comb height adjustment kit when it becomes available. Weighs more than the factory resin stock so the weapons balance is improved and there is no hollow sound when the buttstock is rapped. Just a simply well done product.

Perfect match for the MOE forearm.

Wish they were available for Mossbergs!
